Taxi company licenses and driver authorization, dancing permits, outdoor service areas, cigarette licenses, beer/liquor licenses, and cemetery deeds are issued from the Clerk's office. City subdivision files, project files, the Domestic Partnership Registry, and an index of Council proceedings are also maintained in the office. The Clerk's office also provides staff and support for the Community Police Review Board. Community Profile Location & Transportation: The City serves as the County seat for Johnson County. The City lies at the intersection of Highways 80 and 380. The City is approximately 115 miles east of the City of Des Moines, 20 miles south of the City of Cedar Rapids and 55 miles west of the City of Davenport. The Iowa City Municipal Airport is a general aviation airport on the south side of the City. The Cedar Rapids Airport, located 20 miles from downtown Iowa City is served by a number of national and regional air carriers. Rail service is provided by the mainline of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. The Iowa City Transit, Coralville Transit, and the University of Iowa’s Cambus system provides public transportation to the metropolitan area.
