During FY2020 , the City of Iowa City supported 7 3 % of the Senior Center’s budget. Senior Center revenue includes grants, donations, membership fees, parking fees, independent contractors, and rentals, etc. In FY2012, the City began applying for the Economic Development/Quality of Life Block Grant application to Johnson County for funding. From FY2012 -FY 20 we have been approved for funding each year from between $70,000 to $60,000. We will continue to apply for increased funding from this fund as we continue to partner with rural communities in the county.

The Center’s goal is for revenue from sources other than Iowa City property taxes to support 30 % of the C enter’s budget. This goal of 30 % includes but is not limited to: intergovernmental grants, membership & program fees, contributions & donations, parking permit sales, and rental fees. This calculation is based on the general revenues subsidy divided by the total expenditures and transfers in General Fund (1000 only).
