Iowa City Neighborhood & Development Services Statistics Neighborhood Services Division The Neighborhood Services Division is responsible for the administration of various housing services, housing programs and revitalization efforts that focus on sustaining healthy, safe, affordable neighborhoods. Community Development Community Development staff are committed to providing Iowa City residents with access to safe and affordable housing, jobs, and services. This is accomplished by coordinating efforts with local organizations, businesses, and other community partners, and by administering and coordinating activities relating to city, state, and federal housing and community and economic development programs.

Housing Authority The Housing Authority administers housing assistance programs throughout its jurisdiction, including all of Johnson County, Iowa County and portions of Washington County. Annually, the Housing Authority assists over 1,400 low-income families to acquire and maintain affordable housing through rental and ownership programs. Rental assistance includes the Housing Choice Voucher/Section 8 (HCV), Public Housing, and Veterans’ Supportive Housing (VASH) Programs.
