Department Mission

The Iowa City Senior Center enhances quality of life by creating opportunities to support wellness, social connections, community engagement and lifelong learning for diverse and growing older adult population.

Department Description

The Iowa City Senior Center opened its doors in 1981 and has championed its vision for continued social involvement for community members aged 50+ and to end social isolation.

The Senior Center provides a diverse range of in-person and virtual classes, activities, volunteer opportunities, and services tailored to meet the needs and interests of participants and community members. Our programs are designed to enhance health, wellbeing, and independence through social engagement, mental and physical exercise, and community participation.
