SCTV videos are shared with the community via the Senior Center’s YouTube channel and local cable access channels • Senior Center Choir- The Senior Center for many years has been fortunate to continue a tradition of offering a chorus. Voice of Experience is a fun and dynamic chorus open for all Senior Center members. They provide seasonal choral performances for the community. Boards and Commissions: The Senior Center Commission is comprised of seven members with renewable three-year terms. Six members are appointed by the City Council. The seventh at-large member must be a Johnson County resident living outside of Iowa City. This person is appointed by a majority vote of the six Council appointees. Duties and powers of the Commission include serving in an advisory role to the City Council regarding the needs of the Senior Center. Commission members make recommendations on policies and programs and join staff and other interested persons in seeking adequate financial resources for the operation of the Senior Center. They encourage full participation of older adults in Senior Center programs and activities and work to ensure that the Senior Center is well integrated into the community. Commissioners encourage partnering with other organizations to meet the needs of older adults; serve in an advocacy role regarding to the needs of older adults. • The Iowa City Senior Center continues to advance its mission of enhancing quality of life by creating opportunities to support wellness, social connections, community engagement, and lifelong learning for a diverse and growing older adult population. • At the conclusion of FY2025, the Senior Center achieved a 10.26% increase in total membership, reaching 1,639 members, with 14% participating in the low-income scholarship program — an increase from 12% the prior year. The membership remains diverse, with steady growth among African American, Hispanic/Latino, and multi-racial participants. Approximately 81.8% of members reside within Iowa City, with an additional 16.17% from Johnson County and 2% from surrounding areas. • Volunteerism remains strong with 233 active volunteers, providing essential support for programs and events. • The Senior Center hosted 231 unduplicated programs in FY2025 across its four mission areas: 60 wellness, 43 social connections, 47 community engagement, and 81 lifelong learning programs. The Senior Center also expanded off-site programming to 41 classes, offered 15 virtual programs, and hosted 27 culturally responsive programs, demonstrating a continued commitment to equity and accessibility. • The Friends of the Senior Center Endowment contributed $56,368 in FY2025, a 9.7% increase from the prior year. These funds were used to strengthen programming, sustain operations, and enhance community impact. The Endowment’s goal is to reach an annual contribution of $60,000 by FY2026, which remains on track. • The Senior Center continues to collaborate with TRAIL of Johnson County and Honoring Your Wishes, while also managing in-house programs such as SHIIP, the 160 Recent Accomplishments:
