FY27 Proposed Budget

Recent Accomplishments:

• Completed an Employee Survey to better understand staff’s experience working for the City and to guide the continuous improvement of the City as an employer of choice. • Selected a preferred developer for the Redevelopment of 21 S Linn Street, following a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) Process. • Approved tax abatement eligibility for two properties in the Highway 6 Commercial Urban Revitalization Area and a Partial Industrial Property Tax Exemption supporting Proctor & Gamble’s expansion project and creation of at least 100 new jobs. • Awarded 10 businesses $50,000 in grant funds to support business growth and development, paired with coaching and consulting. • Launched a Building Change grant program targeting façade improvements, space reactivation projects, accessibility, and energy efficiency improvements in targeted commercial areas. • Completed and received a professional, third-party Condition Assessment Survey for the City’s full public art inventory. • Completed installation of Uplift , a sculptural bus stop bench project located in the South District Neighborhood completed through an artist mentor and emerging artist partnership. • Awarded seven projects $24,771 in Public Art Matching Grant funds. • Adopted new FY26-30 Public Art Strategic Plan. • Establish new Urban Renewal Areas and TIF districts to support development occurring in key development areas along I-80 and the Iowa City Marketplace area. • Execute a development and purchase agreement for the 21 S. Linn site. • Close on the sale of the remaining 40 acres of land in Iowa City’s Industrial Park. • Implement the fifth installment of the rotating Sculpture’s Showcase program. • Implement restoration and maintenance recommendations included in the Condition Assessment Survey. • Implement actions included in the FY26-30 Public Art Strategic Plan.
