Risk Management

The Risk Management Division strives to: •

Promote a safe and healthy work environment. • Reduce costs related to accidents and injuries. • Protect the resources and assets of the City of Iowa City. • Manage in an efficient manner the City’s self- insured workers’ compensation, liability, and property claims.

Risk Management Fund Activities:

• The Risk Management division is responsible for managing the City’s property and casualty risks and selecting prudent and cost-effective solutions to minimize the financial impact of losses to the City. Risk Management also coordinates the City’s safety and OSHA programs.

Recent Accomplishments:

• Closed out the March 2023 tornado claim. • Completed first year of the Return-to-Work program. • Completed analysis of City property for flood insurance purposes.

Upcoming Challenges:

Insurance renewals.
