GEOCACHING9
Geocaching is a game that encourages individuals of all ages to explore the world and to find real hidden treasure! Using a GPS-enabled device, participants navigate to a set of coordinates and try to find the geocache (hidden container) at that location.9
These hidden containers include a logbook and will occasionally include a prize. If you take a prize from a cache, make sure to leave something of equal value in its place!9
Geocaching is a free and easy hobby. All you need is a GPS-enabled device and a free account on or any other number of geocaching websites.9
www.geocaching.com9
The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department maintains several caches in many parks. Do you think you can discover where they are?9
DOG PARKS AND DOGS IN IOWA CITY PARKS10
The City of Iowa City is a pet-friendly community. In order to ensure that all users have a great recreational experience, we need pet owners to follow City rules and regulations related to walking dogs in public areas, parks, open spaces, and trails.10
Owners must keep their dogs on a leash and are responsible for picking up after their pets.10
Iowa City Parks and Recreation has two dog parks where dogs are allowed offleash. They provide opportunities for exercise, socialization, and training. All dogs must display either a park permit tag or a day pass to use the off-leash dog parks. Owners without permits or passes may be fined. Iowa City residents must have a current City of Iowa City Animal License to get a dog park tag. Proof of rabies vaccination is also required to use the dog parks.10

DISCOVERY GARDEN37
DISCOVERY GARDEN37
The Children’s Discovery Garden at Robert A. Lee Rec Center offers a refreshing slice of greenery and nature in Downtown Iowa City. As a certified Nature Explore classroom, it offers activities to engage young people and families as they explore the garden areas. We also focus on growing edible plants such as cherries, tomatoes, cucumbers, and herbs. The garden is open to the public and community members can pick produce for free during the growing season.37
GARDEN WAGON37
GARDEN WAGON37
Explore plants, insects, and soil: make music and move through the Discovery Garden when you use the garden wagon. Observation, inquiry, and hands-on sensory experiences into the surrounding natural world are realized by the use of our Garden Wagon supplies. Suggested ages are 3-8 years. Contact Joyce Carroll at or 319-356-5223 for more information. Wagon can be checked out @ Customer Service desk at the Robert A. Lee Rec Center.37

Since 2000, Riverside has staged more than 40 classical productions in the Park. This program was made free for all in 2018 and regularly serves more than 2,000 attendees each summer, employing dozens of local and regional artists. Made possible by our sponsors, including The City of Iowa City, the Iowa Arts Council, and YOU.45
Families, friends, and neighbors, young and old, can enjoy an evening under the stars watching and listening to our finest actors perform the work of one of the greatest playwrights in history.45
