Revenue

The Revenue Division is responsible for the customer service, billing, and collection procedures for 27,256 City of Iowa City utility accounts and 200 Landfill accounts. The Division also records and reconciles all City receipts and banking activity. The Division strives to provide excellent customer service and timely and accurate billings to City and Iowa City utility and landfill customers, minimize revenue written off as uncollectible, and accurately record all customer receipts.

General Fund Activities:

• The Revenue division is responsible for the customer service, billing, and collection procedures City utility customer accounts and landfill customer accounts. The division also records and reconciles all City receipts and banking activity .

Recent Accomplishments:

Changed credit card processors.

• Decreased the number of estimated utility bills and the staff time it takes to generate utility bills. • Modified final bill process for 3,000+ final bills generated at end of July to adapt to the utility billing system limitations.

Upcoming Challenges:

• Move mail functions and GovDeals from Purchasing to Revenue. • Upgrade the Citizen Self Service website. • Continue to work through challenges with the new credit card processor.
